Opening Hours

Open every day of the year except for areas closed off for special or ticketed evens.  Gate times for the Royal Botanical Garden are:

  • May and August: 7 am-5.30 pm
  • June and July: 7 am-5 pm
  • October: 7 am-7.30 pm
  • November to February: 7 am-8 pm
  • March: 7 am-6.30 pm
  • April and September: 7 am-6 pm

 

Tropical Centre: open daily 10 am to 4 pm.  Please be aware that the Tropical Centre can sometime be closed due to maintenance or another reason so please phone ahead to make sure it is open.

 

The Domain (please refer to map) is open 24 hours a day every day of the year and is FREE to entre apart from special or ticketed events.

How to get there:

Train: The nearest Station is Martin Place and is approximately 15 minutes walk.  You can also use Circlar Quay and St James Stations. Please refer to map.

Ferry: The nearest Ferry is Circular Quay and is approximately 10 minutes walk.

Bus: the 441 (Balmain via QVB Building) leaves York Street, Town Hall on weekdays, 10 am to 5 pm, stopping outside the Art Gallery of NSW. The Sydney Explorer Bus also includes the Royal Botanic Gardens on its route and the 200 (Chatswood to Bondi) stops in Macquarie Street.

Car: Metered and undercover parking is available around the botanical Gardens area.  Metered parking along Mrs Macquaries Road, Hospital Road and Macquarie Street. Undercover parking is available at the Domain Car Park Pricing range from $8 through to $46.  Please not these prices could at any time change.
